About Me
Introduction
Hi! I am Gabriel Decolongon, a recent graduate with a First Class BA (Honours) in Animation from the University of East London (‘UEL’). My animation journey started after I completed filmmaking studies at Brighton Metropolitan College, where I earned a Distinction in 2020.
Visual Storyteller
As a Deaf person, I express myself through British Sign Language (‘BSL’), shaping how I view the world and tell stories in my animations. This unique perspective influences my focus and attention-to-detail.
Overcoming Challenges
Being Deaf has its challenges, but I embrace them for personal growth. My Deafness doesn't stop me from dreaming; it fuels my love for animation. Creating animation is a visual medium for me.
Lifelong Passion
From childhood favorites like 'Digimon' and 'Pokemon' to my current inspiration, 'Danganronpa', animation is my lifelong passion. I dream of creating my own series.
Exploring Animation
While I love creating 2D animation, my university introduced me to game design, sparking my interest in other forms of animation like 3D animation.
Academic Journey
University taught me about animation roles and the TV & film industry. I was honoured with the ‘Outstanding Achievement’ award in 2023 and I also received recognition for collaborative efforts with fellow students over the course of my degree.
Proudest Achievement
I am proudest of my third-year animation, ‘The Lucky Gemstone’, showcased at UEL’s Animation event in June 2023. The positive feedback received during my showcase has been important in boosting my confidence and now, I am definitely sure that I want to improve my animation skills even more in the future.
Future Plans
I am eager to kickstart my animation career, bringing my unique perspective and skills to exciting projects.
Thank you for joining me on this journey - I cannot wait to share more stories and animations!
